The Cape and Islands Podcast
Welcome to the Cape & Islands Podcast where we cover local people, their stories, important community topics, interesting visitors, some history and most importantly work to build a stronger community within Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket collectively.
This podcast will have multiple series and hosts over time. In addition to standard format interviews, one series I am excited about is the "Cozy Corner" where we'll have bands come into the Trove Art Gallery in Orleans and play live original music while also telling us a little about their band and history. Cozy Corner videos will be posted on the Cape & Islands Podcast YouTube page and the audio will be streamed through the standard podcast streaming platforms.
I am your host Clarke (future hosts will be added to the stable) my back story is I am a washashore resident of Cape Cod and moved here in 2018. I own Trove Art Gallery & Boutique in Orleans which I opened in 2019 as well as Checkpoint East Recording Studio and Safe Harbor Records which launched in 2020, also located in Orleans. While I may not be from here originally, I hope to do a good job promoting all of the fantastic local people that I have the privilege of meeting often through my various businesses. I am also a board member of WOMR Radio out of Provincetown. Thank you for listening and please do share feedback and recommendations for topics or guests at any time.
Cozy Corner videos are filmed by myself and Meegan Minahan, and are edited by the very talented Meegan. Sound engineering for Cozy Corner episodes by Logan Tichnor. All podcast interview episodes are edited and produced by myself.

Pesticide Reduction Initiative: Orleans Home Rule Petition 2023
In this episode I speak with Michael Herman, Edie Spiegel and Coleman Lincoln about their support of the Pesticide Reduction Initiative supporting the 2023 Orleans Home Rule Petition to reduce pesticide use.
Michael is Chair of the Orleans Select Board & Founder of Greenhouse by the Sea, a certified organic farm on Cape Cod. Edie & Coleman are high school students and active volunteers working hard to support this effort.
If you'd like to support this effort there is a petition on change.org under the title Protect Our Environment: Reduce Pesticide Use in Orleans MA (link address at the bottom). The 2023 Orleans Home Rule Petition if passed will likely be sponsored by State Representative Sarah Peake as she had sponsored the 2022 Fertilizer Bill for Orleans (H874).
The town will be voting on this home rule at the fall town meeting on October 16th so if you are interested in this, please let your voice be heard and VOTE! Thank you for listening as always.
